Wedding: Brad + Tatum
I started 2019 by writing down 10 goals I wanted to achieve this year (some which felt like a real stretch at the time). I love documentary photography and have been wanting to improve my skill photographing live reactions and interactions, so what better way to practice than weddings?
I took what I learned from being a publicist and sent a cold emails to local photographers who appeared to shoot with a similar style and sent them my portfolio. To my own surprise, I got booked as a second shooter for five weddings this year!
So my fellow creatives (yes, you too fellas), if there’s something you’ve been wanting to do, all you need is one baby step. There’s always room for you and your creative ideas at the table.
The venue and kiddos completely stole the show! Brad and Tatum hosted a lovely wedding at Reynolda Gardens. I grew up in North Carolina and had never heard of it, so allow me to do you this favor: visit. The gardens and historic home are open to the public daily with cute restaurants and shops surrounding the grounds. The dawn of Spring blooms made this spot a real winner.
Thank you Jennifer Austin Weddings for letting me assist last weekend! The full gallery of my photos from the day can be seen below.
